Miscellaneous If you want more financial planning software than what's on a single ordering form, please e-mail your list or call (800) 658-1824, for a discounted price. Here's the list of all pricing and ordering forms If you know your price, then you can just use that secure ordering form from the above link, and that will eliminate a layer of confusion. So if you got a quote, and lost that link, then as long as you know the quoted price, you can just use the Custom Deal Form from the link above. Just click the link next to that dollar amount when there. Then complete the form. Prices shown on ordering forms are the total U.S. dollar amounts billed. They include all taxes, handling, normal delivery charges, etc. Delivery is normally made via e-mail, and is usually same day, but could take up to two days. Only the Bundled Deals have CD postal delivery, as total files are over 250Mb. This takes about five days. Next day, or express delivery, is $25 more (unless you use your existing shipping account number). CDs in the mail are not needed anymore because most everyone has a GMail or other account with plenty of server space. You can read what will will display on your browser after you complete a successful credit card order on your own here. Security When Ordering Online Secure means whatever information you type into the secure web page cannot be transferred to anyone else. This is because it's encrypted. In general, you'll know when a web page is secure when the URL shows https:// and not just http:// The "s" stands for secure page. Also, when the page is secure, a little padlock icon will display usually at the bottom of your browser. This is sort of "the law" and there's no way to fake it or get around it. This site is as secure as it gets for doing credit cards online. The bank wouldn't process orders until security met their standards. The bank software doesn't even show your credit card number or expiration to us. In general, as long as the form you fill out is secure, you can trust using your credit card to buy things from websites. If people complain to MasterCard and Visa about improper use of their card, they'll just yank the merchant out of the system. They're very serious about it, so if an online-merchant takes credit cards online, then it's the same as buying something with your card over the phone, or in a store. It's even more secure because you're telling someone your information over the phone, and/or swiping a card into a machine at a store. If you call only to place an order, we'll just be using the exact same order form that you can get to from here. So if you're concerned about security and privacy, then calling adds another layer of insecurity, because you're saying your card number over the phone. When you order by yourself, then we don't even have access to your credit card number (without calling the bank with a valid reason). Tips for getting orders approved outside the U.S. Read about security when ordering online, and our privacy and refund policies About PayPal PayPal had to be fired in early 2011 because their refund policy has a major glitch that was being abused. Here's their deal: When vendors have a "no refund policy," then PayPal will honor that, just like credit card companies do. So when the crazy customer files for a refund (AKA a chargeback), both of them will just say no to them (they will let the purchase stand and the customer keeps the merchandise and the vendor keeps the money). But, if you fund your PayPal account with a credit card - then their whole deal changes big time. Say a crazy customer buys something using PayPal, and then wants a refund from a vendor that does not do refunds - and that money initially got put into their PayPal account from their credit card. The vendor then has to "fight the chargeback" both with PayPal and the credit card company. But because of PayPal's "Buyer Protection Plan," the refund arrangement between PayPal and credit card companies totally breaks down. The bottom line is that PayPal will let the chargeback stand, regardless if the credit card company denies it. In other words, if the credit card company says, "Yeah the crazy customer is not entitled to a refund because the vendor has a clear no refunds policy." But because of PayPal's policy, the chargeback will stand. PayPal won't let the purchase stand - they'll just refund the money back to the customer, and screw the vendor over - letting the customer get away with keeping the merchandise, of course - no questions asked, it's just their policy. If you don't believe this, then here's how to test it. Put money into your PayPal account by using any credit card. Then buy something (you were planning to buy anyway) from a vendor that has a clear no refund policy - like Microsoft / NaviPlan / Morningstar software, the best Portfolio Management Software, underwear, electrical parts, rentals, etc. Then tell PayPal you "don't like it," or any other lame excuse will do just fine. PayPal will give you your refund, no questions asked. - regardless of the vendor's no refund policy (and regardless if the credit card company wants to honor the vendor's no-refund policy). Then you get to keep the stuff, for free! Bingo - you just ripped off the vendor and got free stuff, and there's nothing the vendor can do about it, period. So go ahead - it's all completely legal, and PayPal couldn't care less. They got their transaction fees, and none of this costs them one cent, so why change? If you fund your PayPal purchase / account with a debit card, or transfer money into it from your checking account, then PayPal won't let you get away with ripping off the vendor. They will only let you do this when you fund the PayPal purchase using your credit card. So if you're a merchant, you'd be wise to not do PayPal, as eventually you will will find out the hard way about all of this. More and more people are catching on to this scam daily. Disclaimer: Do not come back whining to us if this didn't work! PayPal will eventually wise up and fix this glitch once more people find out and start ripping off vendors en mass. We're just saying that's why they had to be fired - more and more people were catching on and getting free stuff, so the only way to stop that was to just fire PayPal completely. |
